I have chosen a beloved Anchorage landmark, Sleeping Lady, for the 5th design in my new porcelain ornament series. I have painted Sleeping Lady (Mt. Susitna) many times and in many palettes of color, but none so lovely as our alpenglow of pinks, lavenders and golds. This array of breathtaking color takes the stage only in the short days of winter. It’s almost as if Mother Nature knows we need something special to celebrate the holidays.
